This suggestion is going to be so simple, I’m almost surprised I didn’t tell you about this lifehack before.
If you’re like me, you sit in front of a computer, at least part of the day.
Also, if you’re a normal warm-blooded human like myself, you occasionally take a break, to recharge the batteries.
Here’s a question for you: When you get back from break, do you ever fail to start up the new task or project?
Sometimes it’s tough. We all have a lot of work to do. But I have one small solution to help you increase the % of times you successfully start your next task/project.
Start the next task or project,
before you go on break.
I’m not saying you should do a lot of work on a new task before you begin your break. Literally, all you may have to do could be as simple as opening up a program, folder, email or web page, sending a text, or putting a document on top of your keyboard.
Why does this work?
When you get back from your break — that item will be one of the first things you see. And given the many mental gymnastics you likely have to do on a daily basis, your brain might unconsciously choose the task in front of you more often!
Of course, self-discipline comes into play. But reduce the workload on your unconscious; get started earlier! Just do one small thing before you take your break.
And as always, remember to work smarter, not harder!
